NEW YORK CITY, N.Y. /New York Netwire/ — Remarks by Mayor Bloomberg at a Public Hearing on Local Laws: “This past Monday I held a required public hearing on four pieces of legislation. Since some New Yorkers who may have wanted to attend that hearing would have been unable to due to religious observance I agreed to hold a second public hearing today (April 29, 2011).

“The first three bills as are Introductory Numbers 341-A, 347-A, and 358-A which will facilitate more sustainable practices in rooftop development. New York’s rooftops are one of our last great, untapped resources in terms of space and these bills will help move us toward more beneficial and sustainable use of that space.

“The final bill is Introductory Number 537, which extends the date for the submission of the Mayor’s ten-year capital strategy and the Executive Budget to the City Council by nine days from April 26, 2011 to May 5, 2011 and also makes corresponding adjustments for other Charter mandated actions required during the budget process.”
