NEW YORK, N.Y. /New York Netwire/ — Blue Hill Troupe, Ltd., the only musical theater group in New York City to donate its net proceeds to charity, launches its historic 90th season with “The Drowsy Chaperone.” A rare combination of unprecedented originality and blinding talent, “The Drowsy Chaperone” boldly addresses a great unspoken desire in all of our hearts: to be entertained.
“The Drowsy Chaperone,” which features music and lyrics by Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison and book by Bob Martin and Don McKellar, will run from November 1-9, 2013 at Theatre at St. Clement’s, 423 West 46th Street, New York, NY. Stephen Agosto directs and choreographs, with musical direction by Andrew David Sotomayor. The show runs ninety minutes with no intermission.
The Blue Hill Troupe produces a musical every fall and a Gilbert & Sullivan operetta every spring and has donated over $3.5 million to local charities since its inception in 1924.

It all begins when a die-hard musical-theater fan plays his favorite cast album on his turntable, and the musical literally bursts to life in his living room, telling the rambunctious tale of a brazen Broadway starlet trying to find, and keep, her true love.

The Blue Hill Troupe is proud to support Quality Services for the Autism Community (QSAC) for its 90th season. QSAC helps children and adults with autism live meaningful and fulfilled lives in our society. To accomplish this goal, QSAC develops and provides educational, habilitation, residential, support, and recreational programs to meet the needs of children and adults with autism and their families throughout the Bronx, Manhattan, Queens, and Nassau County. QSAC aims to help foster and develop a personal sense of dignity for all of the participants in its programs. QSAC is committed to assisting its participants in becoming independent and contributing members of their communities.
Past charities supported by the Blue Hill Troupe include The GO Project, I Have a Dream Foundation-New York Metro, The Carter Burden Center for the Aging, The New York Foundling, and Inwood House.
In its 90-year history, the Blue Hill Troupe has produced the entire Gilbert & Sullivan canon, including the long-lost Thespis, with a new score by Grammy Award-winning composer and record producer Thomas Z. Shepard. In 2005, the Blue Hill Troupe was honored with three awards at the 12th Annual International Gilbert & Sullivan Festival in Buxton, UK, for its innovative production of the G&S rarity, “The Grand Duke.” The Blue Hill Troupe has been featured on CBS Sunday Morning and appeared with The New York Pops at Carnegie Hall. For fifteen years, they presented a Gilbert & Sullivan concert as part of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Concerts and Lectures series.
The Blue Hill Troupe will also present Gilbert & Sullivan’s parody of Victorian melodrama “Ruddigore,” April 4-12, 2014 at El Teatro of El Museo del Barrio.
